Logierait Highland Pony Stud
Registered Highland Ponies have been bred at the Newton for many years. Until 2009 two stallions were in residence, Ritchiedene and Blair Atholl of Whitefield, running with six broodmares throughout the year on hill ground. We have also recently purchased a new stallion, McNab of Denmill (photo on the left) who arrived in early November, he is a lovely dun and is very well bred (his sire is Balmoral Moss who is owned by HM The Queen).
Our aim is to bred good quality, traditional Highland Ponies with excellent temperaments, who are adaptable and will be successful in the show ring. A number of Logierait Highland Ponies have been very successful in the show ring to date including Jamie of Logierait who has won many championships down south with Sian Elphick. His main achievement was being placed 2nd in his ridden class at Ponies UK Summer Championship in 2008. Jamie's half sister, Lucky of Logierait has been retained as a broodmare and is breeding very well for us.
Another great gelding bred at the Newton was Torridon of Logierait, he won many championships in Scotland with Joanna McCormack before being sold down South for a considerable sum of money. Torridon's dam is Rosabell of Logierait who we still have on the farm today, she continues to produce many super foals for us and two of her daughters have been
kept as broodmares (Hazel of Logierait and Mhairi of Logierait). Jamie of Logierait
There are currently 5 broodmares; Rosabell of Logierait, Hazel of Logierait, Lucky of Logierait and two Armoury Mares. One stallion; McNab of Denmill. One filly who is rising 4 years; Mhairi of Logierait, who will go with the stallion in the Summer 2010. There are also many youngsters including:

3 colts born in 2007; Garry of Logierait, Misty of Logierait & Jockie of Armoury

Therefore we have around 19 Highland Ponies and all the youngsters are for sale. During Winter, the Highlands are given free roam of over 500 acres of hill ground before being brought further down the hill in time for Foaling in the Spring.
